Contenders is a short documentary about the Kidderpore School of Physical Culture, a sports academy in Kolkata, India. Longtime coach “Cheena Bhai” trains local students to become professionally competitive boxers - including many Muslim girls. The film screened at notable festivals including the Cambridge Film Festival, Kansas International, Tallgrass Film Festival and the Kolkata International Film Festival.
